  • The Colour Purple

This isn't the English variant of Alice Walker's 'The Color Purple' but an introduction to the vibrant and eye-catching colours of 2019 (a wildly less serious topic)! The style over last year has drifted to more standout colours and creating seamless  matches instead of different shades of grey.

Still worth a mention as it is an incredible read!

The crunch of leaves beneath your feet

Hot colours to look for are currently autumnal, burnt oranges, light browns and burgundy. These can make beautiful feature colours but also have a safe feel as they are quite mellow and easy to look at. A typical example is the flood of tan overcoats you see on your smartly dressed colleagues.

The colours represent natural bright environments

Translating this onto the interior design scene, we hope over 2019 to see more feature walls and smartly patterned throw cushions. Be braver with your colour choices but, as always, try to keep it palatable. Our general rule of thumb is no more than three colours in one room (with a bit of slack for white, black and grey as a fourth) and no more than 3 patterns. Patterns are hard as some can sit nicely together whereas some can completely disagree, use your judgement and style to make your pick.

    Living Coral

Starting 2019 you may also see the label 'living coral' thrown around a lot. This is because Pantone named it colour of the year and if you get chance, you should check out their post about it. It shows how well this colour can be used by expressing it through the page, fonts and imagery. There is an especially beautiful video showing its natural presence under the sea.

2019 colour of the year The colour really does shine alongside pale blues

The vibe is not too dissimilar to the flush of autumnal colours also rearing their heads. Both exhibit a relaxing undertone, not too aggressive in appearance. This however has a more floral, tropical atmosphere than the warming, spicy flavours of the oranges. I would encourage experimenting with this pallet to see what makes it shine. I would warn that pastels fall in and out of fashion whereas seasonal colours remain timeless.

    Furniture to finish the look

Use this modern colour inspiration to enhance your existing decor. As always with warm colours, a farmhouse or natural wood aesthetic makes a lovely homely environment. We would love to see someone take our Cheltenham range and use this scheme to add depth.

somebody please dress this in fluffy bedding

As a newly featured range in our catalogue we are interested to see what our stylish customers can achieve with this versatile look, especially playing with the painted finishes available. In our opinion it would suit Autumnal colour schemes with hints of copper around the room.

This aesthetic has been experimented with a lot recently to great success. As a more contemporary suggestion, check out some of our weathered pieces. These can add character to a more polished look, going hand in hand with the casual timeless aesthetic of dark reds, oranges etc.

  • A new comfort

Most beds are absolutely stunning but finding the right one can be hard, we all have different tastes and styles. But I have a few astonishing beds that really could catch your eye! The quality and beauty of these beds really does stand out with their unique designs and patterned frames, so a new comfort could be truly found!

    Comfortable

A bed of comfort, is fabulous bed indeed. The Yasmin upholstered French style bed really does not hold back with its beautiful Beech wood and soft distressed highlighting creating magnificent scenery in the room. Some great ranges to match this with is the Beulieu and Chateau range due to the extraordinary antique white finish, these hand carved beds seriously do not let people down. A gorgeous buttoned bed in a luxurious dusky blue crushed velvet, don’t worry this can be the centre piece to any bedroom with a sense of sophistication.

    Yasmin bed

Moving on to the Etienne Contemporary Upholstered Bed, this is more of a classic designed bed that has very minimal, subtle and intricate designs. A smooth bed that is crafted by magnificent craftsmen and really puts the emphasis on the classical design, this features a warm linen neutral fabric. Honestly, it gives me a sense of luxury just looking at it and it also matches the Chateau range.

     Other bed

However, sometimes it’s not all about the bed, adding a little something to your bed could really get the bed looking a bit more luxurious. A bed throw could be one of them and now winter is on its way so the temperature will probably drop, maybe we will even get some snow… So, getting all warm and snug in your bed is essential.

The celebrations are around the corner, as Halloween approaches, people get ready to dress up, party and decorate their house for a Halloween effect. We have some perfect furniture suited to this holiday but also can look stunning any time of year. The Napoli silver mirror is a stunning wall mirror that has an edgy and gorgeous effect to any room.

     Napoli_Mirror_silver

This Halloween themes can be so delightful to look at and it really shows the festive spirit, I love seeing the decorations in any holiday, some are truly magnificent. Don’t get me wrong though, it can still be expensive to do this, but I admire how creative and ambitious some people get and the effort they put into it.

Countries around the world celebrate Halloween as well as other holidays, communities come together for sweets, candy, food, drinks and the festive spirits, literally spirits because it is Halloween… I’m sorry about that joke, I find the worst jokes are actually the best joke. Accessories can be essential for decorating in any holiday, some of the candle holders we have available are stunning for this holiday. Take a look at the small "oyster" glass candle holder, it can be perfectly suited to this holiday adding a little sense of mystery with this enigmatic smoked tone.

Another candle holder we offer comes as a pair of 3 but looks terrific because of it adding an edgy scenery to the room. It is  finished in a metallic antique gold that can actually look romantic as well depending on the scenery around the room.

  • Autumn vibes

Sadly, we have to say goodbye to summer soon, the days are starting to get darker, the leaves are turning brown and soon we will all be preparing for winter. Seriously, where has the time gone because summer felt like it lasted 5 minutes…

     autumn-994897_960_720

However, this is the perfect time to start thinking about your household furniture and decorations for the upcoming winter. I’m not saying buy furniture now or you are going to be too late! But it’s a good idea to start thinking about it for the cold months. To be honest I love these months as much as I love summer because it means I can snug down in my bed again. But I will miss my tan obviously!

     people-1572816_960_720

One particular bed I like and is the Versailles Gold Leaf French Button Bed which is hand finished in a beautiful genuine gold leaf, and complemented with real silk upholstery. This bed suits the upcoming months with its beautiful and chilled atmosphere it provides. It can catch your eye magnificently.

     Glistening

I don’t just think it’s all about the furniture though, little things such as bed throws are perfect to start thinking about. It is going to keep getting colder and getting warm in bed is priority! Throws can act as an extra layer or just as something to keep your feet a bit warmer. It’s about the looks as well because throws make beds look absolutely fantastic and welcoming.

ThrowWe hope that your Autumn is wonderful and you get the Autumn vibes!

  • Saying Goodbye to Autumn

Seeing the trees bare and feeling the bitter chill of the morning frost has shocked us out of Autumn and straight into winter, although we have a few weeks before we fully enter the season it isn’t hard to feel its presence in the iced over cars and your breath floating in the air. Whatever the weather, it is time to start preparing for the winter to come, but most importantly saying farewell to the Autumn of 2016.

    Bye-bye Autumn Bye-bye Autumn

    Goodbye Halloween

It has been an exciting autumn for us at Crown French Furniture with a vast increase in our collections, see our Halloween blog “Carving Pumpkins” for a few of our additions! Not only this but we have begun our Christmas celebrations, we have to start early to ensure we can have everything available to our customers before it’s mid-December and everyone’s in a Christmasy panic.

Some of our beautiful Christmas accessories! Some of our beautiful Christmas accessories!

Is it out with the autumnal colours though? I don’t think so, the Winter colour schemes are fairly simple and can be created in small additions, such as adding pale white candles to give a cooler atmosphere, and so the autumnal colour scheme can live on within this, besides, it would be a shame to move on from such a beautiful season so abruptly.

    Goodbye Foliage

As always we lose a great deal of the greenery around this time of year and although we do get to see the spectacular colours of the leaves and the trees we are left with bare trunks and lonely looking branches. The colours of our towns and cities change dramatically and we are often without greens, our winter nights have a cold and moody backdrop, which is not always a bad thing! It’s all part of the changing seasons, but for now, enjoy the multitude of colours and the brightness of the streets!

May be seeing more of these fox-gloves in the coming months! May be seeing more of these fox-gloves in the coming months!

    Hello Snow!

There’s way too much to be happy about in the Winter time to spend time missing Autumn, but at the end of it all, it has been a spectacular season and hopefully we can bring the same delight to our customers in the coming months!

Looking forward to this ... fingers crossed. Looking forward to this ... fingers crossed.

  • Feeling Floral

Who said the colder months couldn’t be floral? We’re pretty sure it was boring people because no matter what the weather, floral features and décor are a win. Sometimes it takes a little bravery to make your home such a warm atmosphere when the weather outside strongly disagrees with your intentions, but why not? Flowers are such a strong decorating tool and it seems a shame not to include them 4 months out of the year …

Feeling Floral 1 Colour schemes can be created and manipulated with floral displays.

    Fake it

Obviously, we can’t all fill our homes with Hellebores (a.k.a. the Christmas rose) or the later blooming snowdrop, but the quality of fake flowers has risen drastically in recent years as they have become a beautiful interior accessory. The practicality of fake flowers is astounding! You can match your colour scheme any time of the year, good news for those with warm tones wishing to accessorise in the colder months.

Feeling Floral 4 Feeling really in the spirit? frosted mistletoe is a must have!

… and they don’t smell, we know there are a lot of people who don’t love some of the stronger smelling flowers, a common one being the lily. Personally, I love the smell and they live fairly well indoors so they have to be a favourite of mine, but you can’t please everyone … nice try lilies.

Feeling Floral 5 Sticking with Winter flowers, fake snowdrops can look super festive.

If you are able to get a few fresh flowers that work with your room, then that is brilliant! But unfortunately, this likely won’t be the case throughout the year and at some point, you will need to cheat nature.

Feeling Floral 3 Fake Roses for a Summery floral vibe.

    Feature walls

Some of the best feature walls are those with quirky and unique wall-papers and what better way to bring the natural beauty of flowers into your home! You can’t go wrong with a classy floral wall-paper, it has been tried and tested and will always hold a place as a perfect pattern for your walls. It breaks the monotonous nature of the indoors and adds this sense of freedom that comes with more floral décors.

    The Real Deal

Nothing quite compares to living growing plants, and although they can become expensive to care for and replenish when they inevitably fade away they are exquisite and can completely change the atmosphere in a room! As mentioned before, at this time of year there aren’t too many bright and colourful flowers and that tends to be what drives people away from the floral look in the winter time but if you have an interior that blends well with cool colours then we insist you take a look at some floral ideas to add to your home.

  • Autumnal Vibes

In short, the rain has hit us hard and it has put us in the mood to get autumnal. That means very little to most people, but to us here at Crown French Furniture it means new colours, new accessories and yes … some new clothes for ourselves!

It’s not Christmas … but it’s still hot chocolate weather

It has to be said that the autumnal colour scheme is one of our favourites, forget your white & red winters or the bright colourful spring! We like the underdog, the casual and underrated beauty in using warm colour to decorate your home. It just fits, and we want to bring this beauty into our furniture. We do this through our bespoke services which allow for a range of new combinations and unique pieces to bring a spice into interior designs.

autumnal bed Our Sophia bed with an autumnal theme

Our Sophia bed is exclusive and one of the most exquisite beds we offer, but enough about our “standard” bed, we are getting excited by the personalised items! And this is our pride when it comes to bespoke packages, always a flawless outcome and with such a versatile aesthetic we can’t wait to see some beige, brown or even orange headboards come through our doors and bring some seasonal flare along with them!

    Maybe it is Christmas?

There is no sign more festive than Christmas stock in every window display, sadly we haven’t reached that stage yet but it is closer than you think! Not so long ago we had our new accessories arrive and yes, they may be a little … decembery … bur who cares. If you could see them you would be just as excited as we are and pay no mind to the date, it has to happen some-time. We have all realised how early the Christmas decorations come into stores and it has become a bit of a tradition that we get the idea of trees and advent calendars before its even November!
