Father's Day
Don't forget fathers day is rapidly approaching with the date Sunday 15th June - so no last minute shopping. ;) Fathers day is a great day opportunity to consider our heritage. Fathers day originated in 1910 in America during the civil war as it caused families to become separated from each other. The war in particular separated a woman called Sonora Smart Dodd from her father and caused her to begin the movement of honouring fathers fighting in the civil war. Since then fathers day has become a highly celebrated date in many different countries in order to thank and show respect to our fathers. Recently we have also commemorated the 70th anniversary of D-day (6th June); this has called for us to consider and pay respect to our forefathers who were involved in the Normandy Landings.
We think fathers day is a great time to spend some quality time with the people who are closest at heart whether it be family or friends. Why not spend a day out together and forget about all of the modern day distractions in order to really appreciate each others company and interact with each other to strengthen the bonds between each other - we recommend taking a look at some of the delightful activities and parks the National Trust has to offer in your local area with a postcode search for the best results. They have an extensive selection of activities and places of interest to visit, allowing you to find something that will suite everyone.
Feel free to let us know what you are going to be up to by posting on any of our social media networks listed below. Hope to hear from you soon,
Fern xx
